The Lemonade Diet or the Lemonaide Diet as many people spell it has been around for more than 50 years. It was the brainchild of one Stanley Burroughs, a strange man with no medical or nutritional training.
This program is one of the original detoxification programs. The actual book is called the “The Master Cleanser” and continues to hang on to its popularity to this day. Much of the current success of this juice fasting diet can be traced to celebrity usage including: Beyonce, Denzel Washington, and Robin Quivers.
So what do you do you ask? Well, you drink nothing but this super tart citrus drink. That’s right. This diet claims that its fasting technique rids the body of toxins that are induced by bad diet, lack of exercise and “negative mental attitudes.” So along with fasting, you are going to drink nothing but water and lemonade for 7-10 days.
Well, I forgot, you do get a few tablespoons of maple syrup also and a touch of cayenne pepper.
According to proponents, detoxification diets can relieve medical problems including arthritis, gout, infections and many more. You may find this to be true. However, understand that the weight you will lose on this diet is water weight and will return when you begin eating solid food again.
I love fruit and fruit drinks, but this one is not recommended for long term weight loss. You will have dramatic quick weight loss however if that is what your are looking for.
