Track Water Consumption

Drinking Water For My Health

Why the heck do I need to be aware of my  water consumption?

Let me give you the short version:

If you’ve ever tried to lose weight (and you wouldn’t be here if you haven’t), you’ve probably heard a lot about water and weight loss. Can drinking more water really help you lose weight? The short answer is yes.   water consumption

If you’re already well hydrated and drinking plenty of water daily, getting more water into your diet probably won’t make a huge difference.

But if you’re going through your days a little — or a lot — dehydrated, as many people are, getting enough water could help.

“In my experience, most people are not aware of how much they’re drinking and are not drinking enough — many, as little as half of what they need,” says Amanda Carlson, RD, director of performance nutrition at Athletes’ Performance, which trains many world-class athletes.

It’s tough for the body to tell the difference between hunger and thirst. So if you’re walking around with your stomach growling, you might just be dehydrated.

Try drinking a big glass of water instead of grabbing those cookies. Research has also shown that drinking a glass of water right before a meal helps you to feel more full and eat less.

But getting enough water doesn’t just help you regulate how much you eat — it helps you digest it properly, as well.

People who don’t get enough water in their diet tend to be constipated.

Oh boy that’s a pleasant thought! I think I’ll stop writing and grab a glass right now!!

Also, not enough water can lead to kidney stones. Another not fun experience.

How do you know if you are drinking enough water? Simple, check your urine in the toilet (we seem to be talking about toilets a lot here).

If it is clear, you are well hydrated. If it is dark colored with a strong smell, you need more water.

Track  water consumption daily and ensure you are drinking enough!
