So How Did Chaka Khan Lose Weight?

This entertainer has been around for a long time and released some big-time hits during her heyday in the late 70’s, and early 80’s. She is a 10-time Grammy winner!
But like most of the country, she began to struggle mightily with her weight.
The singer was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2011. In addition, her blood pressure was dangerously high.
Also like so much of the country, she tried to take a shortcut to weight loss; a liquid diet. (not a good idea!)
During this 4-month period, she ate no solid food whatsoever.
Her diet consisted of a protein smoothie for breakfast, a vegetable smoothie for lunch, and one more protein smoothie for dinner.
And of course, she began losing weight quickly.
Unfortunately, this type of diet is unhealthy and can be dangerous. The most important point that I can make is that she changed no behavior. No one can stay on a liquid diet forever.
Predictably, as soon as she ended the diet, her weight immediately returned with a little extra.
She also neglected to perform any type of meaningful exercise and the result was a loss of lean mass making her look even worse.
Following this weight loss attempt, Khan decided upon the advice of others (including the late, great Prince) to switch to a vegan diet.
She began to eat a healthy blend of plant-based foods resulting in a painless 60-pound weight loss in less than a year.
Her blood pressure returned to normal after the weight loss as did her sugar levels.
Most importantly, Khan has kept the weight off over the years and continues to perform at a high level for her fans.
So how did Chaka Khan lose weight?
With a vegan diet.
